High-level official reciprocal visits, with emphasis on those made by President João Lourenço to the United Arab Emirates, have been essential for strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries, according to Ambassador Albino Malungo. Speaking at the ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of National Independence yesterday, the Head of the Diplomatic Mission in the UAE said that numerous projects resulting from the various Memorandums of Understanding signed during the same are already in the implementation phase. In this regard, he welcomed the growing presence of Emirati companies in the Angolan market, such as the Private Office of His Highness Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, DP World, Emirates Airlines and ongoing projects with Abu Dhabi Ports, Etihad, EDGE , Masdar, G42 and the Abu Dhabi Fund. “Many others, which I have not named due to time constraints, seek us out every day with an interest in investing in the agricultural, industrial, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors, chosen as priorities by the Angolan government”, he said. Albino Malungo also mentioned the Angolans who visit the UAE for tourism, prospecting for business opportunities and investments who may request support from the Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry – UAE. At a time when Angola celebrates 47 years as an Independent Nation, the diplomat emphasized the continued development of relations with the United Arab Emirates formally established on December 11, 1997. He highlighted the signature and entry into force of several legal instruments, agreements between governments and memorandums of understanding between public and private institutions of the two countries in the various sectors of the economy. The ceremony was attended by several Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited to the Emirates, as well as business leaders. From the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoun Bin Juma Al Maktoum from the Royal family of Dubai and Angola was present, in addition to diplomats, Jaime Madaleno, lawyer and former director of the Office of the first President of Angola António Agostinho Neto, general José Tavares Ferreira and a large presence of members of the Angolan community, especially young athletes and Jiu-jitsu medalists.
